About Olie

     Hi everyone! I’m Olie Beckett. I’m a 14-year-old with a lifelong love for music. My journey first started when I heard Marshmello spin and dreamed of becoming a DJ. Growing up, music was everywhere – from the tracks my dad played in his radio office to my mom’s melodic humming around the house. All of this sparked my passion to become a singer – songwriter myself. Now, I’m pursuing that dream and crafting my own sound in the music world.

     At the start of my music journey, I dove in headfirst. I auditioned for a national choir, started taking vocal lessons, and began singing at my local church. My vocal teacher, Melissa, was a huge influence on my music. With her background in musical theater, she introduced me to the power of dramatic performance. I’ve also been lucky enough to work with Mr. B, an amazing music coach who’s taught me so much, including music composition and professional tools like Logic Pro X. Between Melissa’s theatrical flair and Mr. B’s technical expertise, I’ve developed a unique approach to creating and performing music.

     My creative process truly kicked in when I started composing on the piano, and then on the computer. I fell in love with every aspect of songwriting and production. I now do all my own songwriting, lyrics, instrumentation, and vocals. I knew I was hooked when I fell in love with the entire process.

     These days, music is pretty much my whole life. I’ll be honest – sometimes it’s hard to focus on schoolwork because all I want to do is write songs and sing. As I’ve grown, my taste in music has evolved too. I draw a lot of inspiration from artists like Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, SZA, and Rosalía. While it’s easy to identify artists you admire, discovering your own artistic identity is more of a complex journey. It’s not always easy, but it’s super exciting to create something that feels truly like you. This is when the creative process sparkles – when you mix your own personality into a genre or song you create.

     When I’m writing a song, it all starts with emotion and inspiration. Once I’ve got that down and I know the chords, the rest just flows. The bass line pops into my head, and adding the drums is the cherry on top. For me, songwriting is about engaging all five senses. All you need is a taste for music, a sense for crafting lyrics, an ear for melodies, and the right touch on an instrument. But the most important ingredient? That’s passion. When you’ve got all of these elements working together, that’s when the magic happens.
